Anna Nilsson defended her PhD at the Faculty of Law in 2017 with a thesis on whether and, if so, under what circumstances, compulsory mental health care is lawful under the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. After defending her dissertation, she has continued to immerse herself in issues relating to compulsory care and the rights of persons with disabilities, but has also explored broader issues at the intersection of human rights, medicine, technology, and biomedical ethics. Together with Linus Broström at the Faculty of Medicine in Lund, she is investigating how our research ethics regulations can be revised to better comply with the UN Convention and still provide adequate protection for vulnerable research participants. Anna is deeply committed to interdisciplinary collaboration, and issues of equality and non-discrimination run like a common thread through her research.
The Academic Appointments Board has today 4 April 2024 decided to appoint Anna Nilsson as Associate Professor (docent) in human rights.
