Winner of the Swedish Parliament’s Essay Competition 2025

Benjamin Petersson is one of the winners of the Swedish Parliament’s 2025 essay competition for the thesis:
"Freedom in Obedience – On the Scope and Limits of Government Control over Public Authorities".

The essays were evaluated by a prize committee that included the Speaker and the Deputy Speakers, and the winners were then appointed by the Secretary-General of the Parliament.

From the prize committee’s motivation:
“The essay addresses a topic of great relevance to both Parliament and Government, using parliamentary source material such as the Constitutional Committee’s review reports. The assessments in the essay are characterized in an exemplary way by independence and openness in relation to previous literature.”

The supervisor was Professor Vilhelm Persson.
