Torsten Söderberg Foundation awards grant for EU law project

Mariya Senyk has been awarded funding for the project “From the Court of Justice to the General Court: Can legitimacy be preserved?”.

The project aims to analyse the General Court’s judgments during the first four years after part of the responsibility for preliminary rulings was transferred from the Court of Justice to the General Court. The focus is on cases concerning value-added tax and excise duties, and the study compares the General Court’s legal reasoning and clarity with the Court of Justice’s case law. The goal is to enhance understanding of legal certainty, quality and legitimacy within the EU legal system, and to assess whether the General Court can establish itself as a reliable actor in the preliminary ruling procedure.

Mariya Senyk has received SEK 1.1 million for the project.
