LL.M. Max Bodin, who graduated from the law program at Lund University in the spring term of 2025, has been awarded the YAS (Young Arbitrators Sweden) prize for the best thesis in arbitration law in Sweden.

The title of the thesis is: The Jurisdiction of Arbitral Tribunals to Examine Set-Off Claims in International Arbitration. The prize amount is SEK 15,000 and was presented during a ceremony in connection with YAS Arbitration Day in Stockholm on November 6.

The supervisor of Max’s thesis was Lotta Maunsbach

The jury’s motivation reads:The YAS Thesis Prize 2025 is awarded to Max Bodin for his thesis ‘The Jurisdiction of Arbitral Tribunals to Examine Set-Off Claims in International Arbitration.’ The thesis provides a thorough account of arbitral tribunals’ jurisdiction to assess set-off claims under both Swedish and international arbitration frameworks. The thesis thus addresses issues of recurring practical and procedural significance for practitioners in the field of arbitration law, and the author has, in a commendable manner, contributed to clarifying these matters within the discipline.”
