The Swedish Institute for Human Rights is an independent government agency tasked with protecting and promoting human rights in Sweden. Through research, analysis, education and collaboration with civil society and other actors, the institute works to strengthen the position of human rights in legislation and practice. The agency pays particular attention to how rights are upheld for groups at risk of discrimination or marginalisation. The board has an advisory and overarching function and helps to ensure that the institute's work is conducted with integrity, relevance and a long-term focus.
The Swedish government has appointed Vilhelm Persson, professor of public law at the faculty, as a member of the board of the Swedish Institute for Human Rights. He succeeds another of the faculty's professors, Titti Mattsson, whose term as a board member expires at the end of the year.
