Searching the collection
It is possible to search within the Library of the Swedish Law Commissions. Search instructions are provided below.
Cataloguing the collection
Each individual book in the collection contains information about which committee the book belonged to and its original shelf mark. This has been registered in the catalogue post and is searchable in Finn.
The following list shows examples of information that is registered in the catalogue, if it exists in the book:
- Exlibris
- Stamps
- Original shelf mark
- Date of acquisition
- Price
- Handwritten notes
- Shelf mark at the Faculty of Law Library
The books are marked in various ways. There are several different exlibris, stamps and other markings indicating which committee the book belonged to.
To get accurate results when searching in Finn, it is best to use the thesaurus associated with the project. It lists all the information that has been registered from the books.
The thesaurus is updated continuously during the project.
How to search the collection
Below are brief instructions on how to search the Library of the Swedish Law Commissions in our search system Finn.
Under "notes" you can see the information in the book that has been registered:
To search the entire collection in Finn, go to advanced search. Enter the code LGBN and search in "all text". Limit your search to books located in the Faculty of Law library:
To search within the collection, add more fields in advanced search and search in "all text". In "all text" you will get hits from the information added in “notes”. In the example below we have searched for Processlagberedningen:
Add more fields to narrow down the search further, for example subject terms:
Use the thesaurus to find terms to search for. If you are searching for a term consisting of several words, put it in quotation marks to get exact matches. For example, "rött exlibris":
To search for the original shelf mark, an entire phrase from the thesaurus must be used to get the best results: "I boken ursprunglig hyllsignatur: ".
