Roads (un)travelled, Law (un)ravelled
The Doctoral Student Council of the Faculty of Law at Lund University invites you to Lund for the 2024 National Conference for Doctoral Candidates in Law. The conference will span across two days, from lunch to late afternoon between the 26th and 27th August 2024.
The aim of the conference is to provide doctoral candidates in law across Sweden with a platform to build community and showcase their research projects, and to encourage discussions and knowledge exchange between peers and esteemed senior academics. With this year’s theme, we invite participants to contemplate the connections between law and legal research. Delving into the metaphorical roads taken, those left unexplored, and those that lie ahead, the event aims to inspire doctoral candidates to explore new horizons, challenge existing paradigms, and contribute to the ever-evolving landscape of legal science.
All doctoral candidates are invited to submit a short abstract on their academic research or other works, to be presented during parallel thematic sessions. We encourage participants to interpret the theme in any way they are inspired to. Abstracts may be a maximum of 500 words, and a template is provided on the website. Notice of acceptance will follow in May. The parallel sessions are open to all participants and will be moderated by senior researchers providing opportunities for doctoral candidates to present, discuss, and receive feedback on their research in specialized groups.
The conference will also include keynote speeches by international experts in the fields of, among others, international law, philosophy, and legal theory:
- Prof. and Lund University Doctor Honoris Causa Anne Orford (University of Melbourne)
- Assoc. Prof. Åsa Burman (Stockholm university)
- Assoc. Prof. Markus Gunneflo (Lund University)
Further updates on keynote speakers and preliminary programme will follow.
Registration online: 1st March – 1st June 2024
Deadline for abstract submission: 14th April 2024
Cost: Free of charge. Participants will be provided with dinner on the 26th August and lunch on the 27th August. Note that accommodation and travel are not included.
