Autumn semester

Most courses offered by the Faculty of Law are at the master’s level. To participate in these courses, students must have successfully completed 150 ECTS credits in law at the university level.

For students who have completed 60 ECTS credits in law at the university level, the Faculty of Law offers the following bachelor level courses:

  • Swedish Law in an International Context, JUXJ04 (15 ECTS)
  • European Business Law, JUXJ02 (15 ECTS)
  • International Human Rights Law, JUXJ03 (15 ECTS)

By taking Swedish language courses, you gain a basic introduction to the language and culture, making communication easier during your stay.

Special Area Study (SAS) courses are specialised undergraduate‑level courses. Previous studies in the subject are not required for admission.

X-courses are short courses that allow you to explore topics outside your main field of study or deepen your knowledge further. 

Course offer

All exchange students are expected to study full time during their stay in Sweden. That corresponds to 30 ECTS per semester. All semesters are divided into two study periods, and every period runs for 10 weeks. 

On top of that you are allowed to take the 3 ECTS introductory course in Swedish (SUSA) and one 7,5 ECTS course in Swedish for exchange students (SVEE), one 7,5 ECTS course in Special Area Studies (SAS) or 5 ECTS X-course.

X-courses are perfect to get the chance to try something outside your main field of study or deepen your knowledge even more. The courses cover various current societal issues, allowing you to apply your knowledge in your studies, future career, and everyday life.

How to choose my courses?

Make sure that you select a 1st, 2nd and 3rd hand course options per study period of totally 15 ECTS for each option. This is because you are not automatically accepted to or guaranteed a seat at the courses you apply for, since there are limited spots for each course.

It is important that you fulfill the entry requirements for all courses you apply for. Nominated exchange students apply for courses for the autumn semester during 1 April – 15 April.

Courses offered by other faculties

Exchange students coming on an exchange agreement through the Faculty of Law, are required to take at least 15 ECTS within the Faculty of Law. You may include courses up to 15 ECTS offered outside of our faculty in your application.

Lund University offers more than 300 courses taught in English across a wide range of subjects that are suitable for exchange students. However, keep in mind that you will not be prioritized or guaranteed admission to these courses. Therefore, you also must apply to at least 15 ECTS of alternative courses given at the Faculty of Law for each study period.
