Alezini Loxa has been awarded the prestigious UACES Best Book Prize 2026 for her book Sustainability and EU Migration Law: Tracing the History of a Contemporary Concept. The prize recognises the most outstanding and original contribution to contemporary European Studies and is awarded annually by UACES, the leading global association for research and teaching on Europe and the European Union.

UACES was established in 1968 to promote teaching and research in European studies. Today it is the leading global membership organisation for academics, students and practitioners interested in all aspects of Europe and the European Union. The UACES Best Book Prize recognises an outstanding book that makes the most substantial and original contribution to knowledge in contemporary European Studies.

Alezini's book offers the first in depth historical and conceptual study of sustainable migration in EU law. It traces the evolution of the idea across legal sources, policy frameworks, and institutional discourse, situating it within broader debates on European integration and mobility. Through a critical historical study of the areas of free movement of workers, accession treaties, association agreements and migration from third countries from 1951 to the present, the book highlights the centrality of the economic and social pillars of sustainability in the historical evolution of EU migration law.
