Microsoft has released the product Office 365 for free to all active staff and students at Lund University. Activation of all accounts is already done. If you are using a computer provided by the Faculty of Law, and have Office 2016 (or later versions) installed, you are automatically logged in to Office 365.

The text below refers to those who want to connect to Office 365 on a private computer, mobile phone or tablet and thus get the opportunity to download the Office 2016 package free of charge. Each active employee and student has five licences to use.

Log in privately

To start using the service on your personal computer, mobile phone or tablet, go to portal.office.com and enter your Lucat ID (e.g. jur-aaa [at] lu [dot] se). You will then be automatically redirected to the university's login service where you continue to fill in your own Lucat password.

By logging in in the above-mentioned way, you get access to the entire Office package for private computer, mobile and tablet through five licences.

Services in Office 365

Office 365 includes the following services:

  • A common platform for students and staff - same file format, same applications.
  • Access to the applications of the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, OneNote and more). For example, you can edit Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files directly in your browser with the browser version of Microsoft Office. In addition, you can install the software locally on up to five devices, which you can then use even when you are not online.
  • Document storage in OneDrive for business. OneDrive for business is a cloud-based storage solution with unlimited storage space that can be accessed via computers, mobile phones and tablets. OneDrive for business is specially adapted for the university's account and should not be confused with OneDrive, which is a private product. OneDrive for business as a product simplifies the sharing of documents, collaboration between employees, collaboration between students and between employee and student.
  • Skype for Business, which is a program for instant messaging, audio and video calls, meetings, accessibility information and sharing features.
